WOW Book Club

One of my resolutions this year is to read more books. Given that we spend so much of our lives in transit – riding the bus to work, on a train somewhere new or on a long haul plane journey – I think its important to make use of that time and to always keep our minds thinking + wondering.Β Then I got to thinking – I share a lot of my favourite books here on the blog and get a great response from readers looking for recommendations (especially for plane reads), so why not start a book club of our own!?

How it will work: each month a new book will be announced. That’s just one book per month and just twelve books per year… not too much, but also not too little. At the end of the month we will discuss the book of that month (in a new blog post – to stay updated in your inbox you can subscribe to new blog posts, join the newsletter, or follow on bloglovin’).

Each month we will start afresh with a new selection and by the end of this year we will have read and discussed twelve fantastic books that I promise will inspire you, each in a different way!

Paris Letters

January – Paris Letters

For the first ever (excitement levels are high over here) WOW book club, I’ve chosen a book I recently picked up in an airport and have since read thrice. I’ll leave it to you to get yourself a copy, be that a quick purchase online, a digital download or reserving a copy at your local library. Together, we’ll read the book (don’t worry, I’m all up for reading it again!) and convene at the end of the month to discuss.

If you have any suggestions for future books to be featured, please feel free to leave them in the comments below for consideration! The following 3 months have already been selected and I promise you’re up for some great reads, so I can’t wait to get kick started with the WOW book club!

Do let me know in the comments below if you’re joining in, I can’t wait to chat more!

    January 8, 2016 at 4:17 am

The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton is a great read, but a pretty long one! Maybe not great for a monthly book club, but still highly recommended from me! Its set in New Zealand when miners were colonizing the area, but there’s also a supernatural twist!

    January 7, 2016 at 10:26 pm

Great idea, Brooke and thanks for starting this! I was looking for books that were more travel related in this sense! This one sounds awesome and can’t wait to read it!

You should highly consider adding this book to your list! : “Goodbye to All That: Writers on Loving and Leaving New York” edited by Sari Botton. It’s filled with 28 heartfelt, tear jerking, and funny essays from various writers who portray their love stories with New York City and paint the city in a truly authentic way.

I just ordered it! This is a wonderful idea. I can’t wait to start reading once it arrives. I also just finished ‘Around the World in Seventy-two Days and Other Writings’ by Nellie Bly. I found her story fascinating!

    January 7, 2016 at 2:10 am

You can also try The wife in Paris and Visit sunny Cernobil! Loved them both!
One of the reasons why I just love to travel is that I also have & find more time to read! At home I am always buys – at work (for the moment I have a full time job), with my travel blog, spending time with my boyfriend, and I find sooo little time to read!
