What to Pack for your Honeymoon

Going on vacation with the one person in the world you choose before all others, the one person you don’t get sick of and the one person you want to spend the rest of your life is well… lets face it… only the best kind of holiday you could ever have! I recently went on vacation with my partner in the Maldives, and we loved our time together so much that I convinced him we should go on another vacation the following month throughout Europe.

Being that I cover a lot of honeymoon destinations here on the blog and as such dress (and pack) for them, I thought it would be a great idea to share a complete packing guide for your honeymoon to give you a plethora of ideas, as ell as ensure you don’t leave anything important behind!

What to Pack for your Honeymoon

What to Pack for your Honeymoon

First things first: I should make mention early on that this article presumes you will be heading to a tropical destination, or at least heading on a sunny vacation at the very least. Should you be taking a skiing or snowy honeymoon, this guide probably won’t be as useful (unless you’re planning to wear a little two piece on the slopes!)

The Essentials

The essentials are those major items you cannot go anywhere without. Think of them as the items at home you never let run out before replacing them with a new one. They include:

Skincare regime (don’t let it fall to pieces when you travel), hydrating creme (to combat the flight journey), tweezers, razor, toothbrush + paste, deodorant, cosmetics and any medications.

Most hotels will supply body lotion, hair shampoo, conditioner and body wash – though if you prefer your own, be sure to pack these too.

This should also include your passport, documents, flight details, hotel details, travel credit card + one back-up, local currency, contraception (or not – depending – ha!), camera, camera charger, phones and chargers, and a good book to read on the plane or at your destination!

.

Honeymoon Wardrobe

A honeymoon wardrobe should be carefully planned in advance – just enough to get you through the days of your honeymoon with a “nothing i will not use or need” policy to prevent you from overpacking (and leave a little room for take home some treasures from the trip!) Here’s everything you need and a rough idea of how many of each. Remember you can always have your clothes washed, or save your pennies and learn how to wash your clothes in the sink like a pro.

Intimates:

One thing is for sure when you jet off for your honeymoon: you want to get that rockin’ wedding body out for show! Investing in a few pairs of nice matching underwear is nice no matter what day, week or season – but for your honeymoon it is especially nice to splash out and spoil yourself.

.

Bathing Suit(s)

Assuming you’re heading to a tropical destination, bathing suits are a must! One suits are currently on trend and have a great way of keeping the class, but there are also some lovely little two pieces out there! Be sure to shop around as you can never have too many bikinis. My favourites are usually from Victoria’s Secret, Summer love swimwear (my friend’s line of eco-friendly bikinis) or I always love snagging a bargain on Asos!!! I would also include a cover up to wear to and from the pool or beach – much easier than getting fully dressed each day!

.

Dresses:

The simplest wardrobe on a honeymoon vacation consists of one pieces – and a lot of them! If I could wear a summer dress or playsuit every day, life would be sorted! The biggest benefit of dresses and playsuits is that it limits washing, takes no more than two seconds two get dressed in the morning, and makes getting in and out of pools/oceans an incredibly quick affair! You really can’t have too many dresses in your suitcase (though 3-5 would be plentiful).

.

Bottoms:

No matter where you are going and how hot it might be when you get there, it is always best to be prepared for any weather! Even if you only wear a pair of loose fitting jeans on the airplane there and home, at least you won’t be freezing on the journey to paradise! Evenings tend to be a little colder no matter where you are, so you still may get some use out of a pair of jeans whilst on vacation. A pair of shorts are great to combine with some loose fitting tops, too!

.

Tops:

I almost always overpack on tops – somehow convincing myself that I will need to rotate them daily and forgetting I can wash them as I go along. You really only will need 2-3 camis/t-shirts on your honeymoon so try not to overpack. A nice blouse is a great addition for evenings out at the dinner table, too!

Outerwear:

No matter where I am going in the world, I always pack a coat or jacket of some kind – usually a trench or parker jacket! That way I am always warm on the plane and in airports, as well as staying cosy on board.

.

Shoes

Sandals, sandals, sandals! Keep it simple and beach chic in a comfy pair of sandals, pack a pair of sneakers if you plan to do anything active or outdoorsy, and always chuck in a pair of heels to dress up any of your day dresses and instantly feel dinner-ready!

.

Accessories

For a honeymoon vacation you should always pack a pair of sunglasses, a handbag or tote bag for daily use, a hat (or if you’re anything like me, a few!) and a scarf to cover your shoulders or keep warm on the plane.

.

Happy Honeymoon!
