For more than a decade, ever since taking my first overseas trip, I have been obsessed with all things travel. I not only love being on an adventure, but also the planning phase, booking phase, and post-travel reminiscing that inevitably ensues after a grand adventure. Having lived out of a suitcase for a year, I decided this year that I would stop in between trips every few weeks or few months, and call some place home. But I also want my home to feel inspiring and reflect what I love – to travel – so I’ve been sourcing far and wide the best Travel Home Decor I can find to inspire my ongoing wanderlust. Here are my favourites so far…

Glasshouse Australia

Around the World Scents from Glasshouse Fragrances

What better way to reminisce on your favourite adventures than to fill your house or apartment with the scent of that place!? I love the sugary tones of “Coney Island”, but my favourite of the collection is “Tahaa”, a vanilla caramel scent reflecting French Polynesia. Bliss! See more at Glasshouse Fragrances.

City Maps from Mapiful

I’m a sucker for a visually aesthetic map, but I do tend to follow a “minimal colour” rule in my interior decorating, so I’ve found the solution in Mapiful city maps – simple, understated, elegant city maps for $60 with free worldwide shipping (I’m placing my order as we speak).

emmakateco coffee print

Word Prints from Emma Kate Co

The delightful Emma Kate (who is also a weekly contributor to WOW!) has some fantastic worldly inspiration in her collection of homemade prints. Being an adventurer herself, her work is heavily inspired by her globetrotting escapades and she in turn inspires me (and many others) in her short one-liners.

coffee table travel book

Travel Coffee Table Books

I recently shared my current favourite “travel coffee table books“, but the list is truly endless. Just this week I found another great book to add to the collection, Paris: An inspiring tour of the cities’ heart.

photo clipper

Photo Clipper from Urban Outfitters

If you love collecting moments not things, this is the perfect little every day reminder of your adventures and escapades around the world, to the shop, or in your backyard. For just $10 you can pick up one these photo clippers from Urban Outfitters. You’ll also need an Instax Mini to capture those moments in real time!

etsy cushion

Map Cushions via Etsy

The little homely touches are the ones that count! (Slightly) breaking my all-white-errythang rule for home interiors, I love this little adventure cushion found on Etsy.

adventure mug

Adventure Mugs by Urban Outfitters

What better way to start your day than a morning cup of coffee and some inspiration for adventures! For just $14, they’re a pretty good buy! Shop travel mugs at Urban Outfitters.

wild and free wall art

Wild & Free Wall Art by Urban Outfitters

And finally, what more inspiration could you need than a two word reminder. No matter where you are in the world, even at home, never forget those two words: WILD and FREE.

Love those first two images! They look absolutely cool. Unfortunately my home is to small to follow up all the cool interior ideas I see on a daily base. Ah well, dreaming isn’t too bad either

The pillow and those mugs are so cute! I’d love to come home to little hints at travel like that! It’s really embracing what you love in a whole different way <3

Those are great ideas. We always make or buy a cross on every trip. We then hang them on our cross wall in our living room. It is a great way to showcase our travels, without looking to “souvenir-ish”

Great choices! I have such an obsession with things with maps on.

Love all of these, especially the map prints and the travel coffee table books. I’ve been meaning to get my own photos printed into a coffee table book, but haven’t gotten around to it yet. I have so many photos on my computer, so I’m always looking for new and creative ways to incorporate print copies into my home. Any other suggestions?

Such cool ideas, love the hanger and the scents!
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote an article about a globetrotter’s home as well:
Happy travels and all the best,

I love this post! This is a good way to inspire travel through decor, but I really like when I can find a special piece to take home with me when I’m traveling. One that isn’t overly touristy but just adds into my home in a complementary yet special way. I can always look back and remember the trip when I bought the item too.

I am so excited to see this post! I’m an interior designer and traveler, so I LOVE seeing my two worlds intersect! I found your blog 2 years ago and you’ve been a huge source of inspiration! Last year I took the leap and started my own design business after 7 years of working for other people. It’s allowed me to be in charge of my travel days and in charge of my life!

Thanks for everything that you do!

Now I not only have to save up money to travel, but I also have to save up money to buy travel-inspired items for home!

Love these! I love travel decor – my own home is full of it: postcards and photos of places I’ve been; air-mail design cushions and laundry basket; a little wooden globe; souvenirs; maps – and vintage suitcases EVERYWHERE… I think it’s maybe slightly less stylised / curated than this list, but I kind of love that hodge-podge mix of styles and destinations. I think it kind of mirrors my own travel style(s). 🙂

I love collecting things during my travels – particularly postcards. I’m just trying to find a way to store/display them that doesn’t take up too much space in my room! Love having a little momento from each trip 🙂

Ahhh I am also obssesed with travel-themes decor! I just bought a beautiful ink map in Busapest of the city and I can’t wait to have a place to put it. Then again, the nomadic life does make it hard to utilize these pretty things 😛
