The World of Wanderlust Story

Hello! My name is Brooke – the founder, editor, and adventurer behind World of Wanderlust.

A little over two years ago I found myself constantly perusing the internet for a place to inspire my wandering mind. Having always had restless feet and a wandering heart, all I wanted to achieve was a life of travel. Without the funds to permanently be on the road, I decided to create this little space on the internet where I could share stories and photos from my travels, inspire and informs others, and connect with likeminded globetrotters around the world. It was my outlet, my creative space, and the place I turned to when I wanted to escape into a whimsical world of adventures.

Soon after starting, World of Wanderlust was named the “Travel Blog of the Year”. From this award, I received a sponsorship to help me travel the world on a full time basis. I haven’t stopped travelling since. Nowadays, WoW is my full time job and I am fortunate enough to employ a small team of writers in London, Paris, Berlin, and New York. I’m a firm believer in turning dreams into reality, so my only hope is that you too can retreat to this little space on the internet to find endless inspiration and information. I also hope that readers will feel inspired to follow their own dreams and aspirations, hence a move to progress World of Wanderlust as both a travel and lifestyle blog that inspires readers to be their own boss, make their dreams a reality, and create the life they know they deserve.

If you would like to know more about my journey to starting a career in travel writing, you can read the full story in my book, The World of Wanderlust Story.

World of Wanderlust is the brainchild of a girl with restless feet, a travel blogger and storyteller, Brooke Saward. Brooke has been traveling since the age of thirteen and has since turned her love for travel into a full time career. Having launched World of Wanderlust onto the global stage in December 2012, Brooke has since gained a global audience and loyal readership. This book is an insight into her endeavors since the first time she traveled through to the creation of World of Wanderlust, as well as an insight into what the future holds. Brooke explains how she conceived the idea of World of Wanderlust and how she approached new global media as a platform to launch her idea onto the global stage. Most importantly, this book is an insight into her travels to date and provides the backstory of her life.

[…] A personal fave (as a full time travel blogger) and let me say this straight off the bat – more attainable than you might think!!! I get tonnes of emails about where to start as a travel blogger and the best piece of advice I can give is to just start! We all have to start somewhere. When I first began travel blogging I knew I wanted to make it my full time career, but I had no idea how. So I just started writing, editing, adjusting my approach, and over time improving the way I write, what I write about, and how I connect with my readers around the world. Someone once told me that it was worth more in the long run to work for free at something you love until you get paid to do it, rather than to do something until you love it. Those words stuck with me and after a few months writing for free, I was starting to make (small amounts) of money from travel blogging. Over time I have been fortunate enough to make this my full time career! You can read more about my story here. […]

This book is an insight into her endeavors since the first time she traveled through to the creation of World of Wanderlust, as well as an insight into what the future holds. Most importantly, this book is an insight into her travels to date and provides the backstory of her life. It sounds to me like memoir meets inspirational mommy blogger? But the reviews seem relatively positive, so I’m intrigued. Plus, $2 from every book download (given her global audience, Saward only sells digital copies) is donated directly to the Destiny Rescue project, fighting child prostitution. $17.99, available for download here.
