This is one of those luxury hotels you go home telling everyone and anyone who will listen about how fabulous your stay was and how you can not wait to return. Indeed, a return to Mandarin Oriental properties around the world is always on my agenda as they are fast becoming my favourite properties around the world in key international cities such as Paris, Barcelona, Geneva, Hong Kong, and Prague.

Mandarin Oriental Prague

Located in Brickell Key, the location of the Mandarin Oriental Miami couldn’t be more perfect. It feels as if you are isolated on a private island of complete and utter privacy, however in reality you are just a short walk away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Miami should you wish to venture away from the hotel. This is one of Miami’s more expensive hotels, however as is always the case, the price reflects the high level of quality, service and attention to detail on offer at this hotel.

The Mandarin Oriental Experience

As soon as I arrived at the lobby to check-in I immediately felt at home, although I had never stepped foot inside this hotel in my life. That’s because the staff at MO properties anticipate your arrival – they know when you plan to arrive, your preferences based on previous stays, and even know dietary requirements to ensure you are catered for with ease. I was delighted to hear that I would be staying in the Dynasty Suite on the 19th floor of the hotel – it doesn’t get much better than that!

Throughout my stay I also made time to sample the highly acclaimed Peruvian restaurant, La Mar by Gaston Acurio. While this restaurant has only recently opened in 2014, it has quickly become a hot spot in Miami for visitors and locals alike. The food is quite simply phenomenal, the setting low-key, and the service is exceptional. If I hadn’t made dinner plans for the following evening, I certainly would have returned the very next night! There’s also Azul – the hotel’s other restaurant that blends French and Asian cuisine, as well as MO Bar for cocktails and nibbles.

The 15,000 square foot spa is another property highlight, so I was sure to drop by on Sunday afternoon and indulge for a couple of hours of pure pampering. Before my treatment I spent half an hour in the sauna and steam room which was a great way to ready myself for an hour-long massage in one of the private suites. Again, I was amazed by the exceptional standards on offer at the Mandarin Oriental – after visiting plenty of the world’s leading spas around the world, I can say with certainty this was one of the best massages I have had the world over.

The Room

I enjoyed my weekend getaway inside the Dynasty Suite – number 1902.

The suite itself was incredibly generous – both in space and features. The separate lounge area offered an oversize ‘L’ shape couch, large flat screen TV, competitively priced mini bar, and large study area. There was also a wrap around balcony that stretched from the living area right around the bedroom and beyond – lush!

The bedroom was also very generous in regards to space, with two separate wardrobes for his and hers. The bathroom was again offering oodles of space and I can’t help but to appreciate every time all of the amenities on offer at MO properties – hairbrush, sewing kit, shaving kit, you name it!

Don't miss dinner at La Mar!
