As far as luxury hotels go in Hong Kong, the Landmark Mandarin Oriental is among the cream of the crop – combining both traditional luxury with a contemporary flair to create the ultimate destination for the modern discerning traveller visiting Asia’s buzzing international hub, Hong Kong.
The Landmark Mandarin Oriental is where the fashionistas come when they’re in town, and anyone with a love for contemporary luxury will more than appreciate this MO property. As soon as you enter the lobby you will notice the Prada bags pass you by, the Jimmy Choo heels, and some extremely well rested looking travellers. This is Hong Kong’s most fashionable address in every sense of the phrase.
The Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong Review
After checking in I was escorted to my suite on the 12th floor – an oversize executive suite that had very clearly been thought-out by terms of design (both layout and interior design). The size will almost shock you – so I was completely unsurprised to learn that these are among the largest hotel suites in Hong Kong. On a city that is short on space, this is a true luxury in itself.
But this wasn’t just a large space – each and every inch of the suite had been thoughtfully transformed to create an ideal hotel suite where everything just felt right. The clean lines combined with all the comforts of home made the suite feel incredibly comfortable, whilst the state of the art technology made for a seamless stay.
The bathroom amenities were a highlight in themselves – with the Landmark MO providing guests with absolutely every amenity one could think of – as well as luscious natural luxury products from Australia to add an extra special touch.
But the lavish amenities were only part of the highlight. The main event was indeed the spa bath itself – a stunning seven-foot round bath tub to accompany the MO spa philosophy and provide guests with their very own private oasis from within their room – lush!
Afternoon Tea at MO Bar
On my day of arrival I popped into the MO Bar for the afternoon tea serving – and I certainly did not leave hungry nor disappointed. It was clear very early on that this is the place to be in town. If you don’t book a room here, you should at least stop by for the afternoon tea – a contemporary take on the British tradition.
The three-tiered tea tray made its’ way to our table showcasing scones, savory goodies and the all important sweet treats.
The savory choices were kept light and healthy which I particularly enjoyed, as it made me feel less guilty for tucking into the sweets (and finishing them all!). The food was particularly delicious and made for a perfect light lunch in the early afternoon.
Book this hotel if…
It is without doubt that I can confirm this is one of Hong Kong’s leading luxury hotels – and certainly the leading innovator in contemporary luxury in Hong Kong. Everything about this hotel works and feels right – the Landmark MO seem to really understand their product and customer. Service is to the usual above par MO standard, though with MO properties service is never an issue – always above ordinary.
I simply cannot fault this hotel, despite searching for flaws through my short stay here. It really was just that, a flawless stay! One that I only hope to repeat next time I find myself in my favourite city in Asia – Hong Kong!
World of Wanderlust was welcomed as a guest to the Landmark MO, however my opinion is as always, my own.
