How to Experience Luxury in Oman

Lets say you want to visit the Middle East before it became the international hub it is today, backtracking decades of years to the sandy deserts and souks filled with oil lamps, malfunctioning compass’ and jewels. After visiting the glitz and glam of the neighbouring United Arab Emirates, I was excited to see more of Arabia beyond the multi-day layovers in bustling downtown Dubai and the Abu Dhabi skyline.

Oman Khasab

So I ventured elsewhere in the Arabian Peninsula, to Oman… and was surprised to find such a raw, authentic and humbling experience.

The weather in Oman is hot and sunshine year-round, the rolling dunes of the desert are always inviting adventure, and the constant rise of interest in tourism in Oman has resulted in a great collection of hotels continuously popping up, each with a different character and charm.

If you want someone else to do all the hard work for you while you board the plane, sit back, relax and escape to a desert oasis, Original Travel offer tailored luxury trips to Oman and beyond. Here’s a taste at what they can arrange for you in the Middle East…

The Al Bustan Palace is listed as one of their favourite properties, which boasts a 1km stretch of beach alongside tropical palm trees and gardens. If you’re a little more adventurous and would consider cooling off in the ocean, the hotel can arrange windsurfing, kayaking, snorkelling, sailing and scuba diving.

But if you want to keep things a little more low key, The Chedi is another favourite property they suggest for the more lethargic traveller. If its indulgence you want, its indulgence you will get! This hotel is renowned as one of the premier properties in the Middle East, overlooking the Hajar mountains and the calm waters of the Gulf of Oman.

Oman Brooke in Oman

While in Muscat, Original Travel insist you don’t miss a Dhow ride, Dolphin spotting, and a visit to the Muscat Souks. However there is much to see here beyond the beaten path, so be sure to ask your hotel concierge for some local insider recommendations or wander freely on your own accord, ready to discover some hidden gems.

The Middle East really appeals to me as a luxury destination. Six star resorts, butler service and horse riding… who doesn’t want that?!
