Santa Monica is one of the most sought-after locations for discerning travellers visiting the Coast of California. The Hotel Shangri-La boasts 71 luxury rooms and suites, which attract travellers with their unique flair and classic interpretation of modern luxury. The timeless luxury rooms and suites boast all the modern amenities to ensure guests are made to feel at home, all the while retaining the original glamour of the 1930s, when the property was first established.
It Doesn’t get Sweeter than This
As I entered suite 500, the afternoon sun effortlessly lighting the room in an angelic manner, which immediately blew me away. This 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite with wrap-around views of the Pacific Ocean was the most luxurious seaside escape imaginable. Complete with a full kitchen and spacious living area, the suite was the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind after spending my day in the hustle and bustle of Downtown Santa Monica.
The Hotel Shangri-La
The opulent boutique property still manages to retain its original 1939 charm, having been recently restored to its former glory as opposed to renovated to match its modern counterparts. The Hotel Shangri-La does not simply match modern standards; it exceeds them. There are very few properties you can walk into and immediately feel as though you have turned back the clock to a bygone era, especially one as mysterious and magical as the 1930’s. Guests enter into the Art Deco entrance and are promptly guided through check-in by a professional yet personable front office team.
From the opulent art deco entrance, guests enter an original passenger elevator to make their way to their room or suite. Once inside, guests can enjoy modern perks such as 50” and 60” flat screen televisions, complimentary high-speed Internet access, and iPod docking stations. Luxurious bath products, plush white robes, and a decadent 24-hour in-room dining menu make it almost impossible to want to leave the hotel, and with the beach just a stone’s throw across the street nothing is too far by. Speaking of location, the Hotel Shangri-La is ideally located just a couple of blocks from Santa Monica’s premium outdoor shopping area, Third Street Promenade. In addition to that, some of the best views of the Santa Monica Pier can be enjoyed from the comfort of your own suite, or from the rooftop bar – Suite 700 – which offers delicious concoctions and cosy warm fires to keep you warm well into the evening on the outdoor patio.
One of the hotel’s most celebrated features is the sumptuous outdoor courtyard that will leave you feeling a world away from the hustle and bustle of Santa Monica – one of California’s most thriving seaside cities. The courtyard exhibits luscious greenery that surround private coves of seating, all creating a secluded oasis for each guest to feel comfortable.
The hotel staff will ensure all guests’ needs are catered to, offering lavish services such as in-room and courtyard spa services, valet, a gourmet restaurant, and town car/limousine services. There is also a swimming pool and fitness centre for guests looking to stay active without leaving the hotel.
With a team of staff dedicated to ensuring guests’ expectations are met and exceeded from the moment they arrive to the Hotel Shangri-La, this boutique luxury property has all the ingredients for an exceptional seaside escape. Don’t forget to allow time to enjoy all the amenities and services on offer, as the Hotel Shangri-La aim to please their guests in an authentic approach to redefined luxury.
