As the sister property to the world renowned Burj Al Arab, the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray Dubai has a lot to live up to. But in true Jumeirah style, the Zabeel Saray continues to set a new standard for luxury hoteliers around the globe. With Dubai becoming more and more popular as a tourism destination each year, it is little wonder this is one of the world’s strongest ‘up and coming’ luxury hotels, welcoming international guests throughout the year. But did it live up to the hype? Read on for the full review…
The Jumeirah Zabeel Saray experience
The Jumeirah Zabeel Saray is an oasis if ever there were one. Located on the ‘other’ side of the palm far away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Dubai, it is the obvious choice for visitors to Dubai looking to engage in not just a little luxury, but an experience that you’ll be speaking about for weeks and months to come.
The property is home to the following: a large outdoor swimming pool, indoor swimming pools, the largest Turkish bath in the Middle East, a private beach, no less than 10 restaurants, rooms with private balconies, and sports facilities including a gym, tennis court, and bike hire.
The Room: A Palm View Deluxe King Room
Because all rooms come with ocean views (either over the palm or the sea), it’s hard to complain no matter what view you have. But for arguably the best, book a palm view deluxe room on the 4th floor. This will give you a view over the palm (Dubai’s icon), as well as a view of the private beach and pool area four floors below at ground level.
The room itself is large enough for two people to enjoy comfortably and deluxe rooms are clearly catered towards couples. There’s a large bathtub fitting two people, a king size bed, a sofa, desk area, and outdoor setting on the private balcony.
After spending some time in the room I am convinced this would be a perfect couple’s getaway – only made better by the remote location on the far side of the palm, private beach, large swimming pool, and the incredibly lush spa – the largest in the Middle East.
Wifi is included in your room rate, and is a strong signal in all rooms and throughout the hotel.
Pros v Cons
Opulence, sheer opulence. This is one of Dubai’s leading luxury hotels and there’s no such thing as going over the top here.
Service is on par, with staff on overload. You won’t have to walk a few metres before you run into another staff member greeting you with a warm and friendly smile.
One of the most elaborate breakfast buffet spreads, matched by an array of restaurants within the hotel.
The Zabeel Saray is a world away from all that Dubai has to offer and it will take you 15 minutes one-way to reach the mainland. This can of course be both a good and bad thing, but is made easier with a complimentary shuttle service to the Mall of Emirates and Airport.
ROOMS FROM: $220 upwards / rates are seasonal
World of Wanderlust was welcomed to the Zabeel Saray as a guest of the hotel, however my opinion is as always, my own.
