It’s all in the name – it’s grand, it’s a hotel, and it’s central.
As a travellers’ favourite in Spain, Barcelona is constantly bustling with tourists and travellers from around the globe. Luxury hotels such as the Grand Hotel Central make your stay in Barcelona a much more memorable experience, and are a perfect choice for a special weekend getaway. The name may sound old, grand, and a thing of the past, but this hotel is surprisingly new, modern, and impossible cool. World of Wanderlust stopped by to see why this is one of the cities’ hottest addresses…
THE GRAND HOTEL CENTRAL EXPERIENCE
As soon as you enter the lobby it’s clear this is one sleek and sophisticated space in Barcelona. It’s not just the hotel that attracts the cities’ chic, but also the highly celebrated sky bar and rooftop pool.
The staff were quick to promptly check me in and assist me with my bags up to my room on the 5th floor.
Throughout my stay I couldn’t help but to notice just how central I was located within Barcelona. My absolute favourite location in the city, La Bouqueria Market, was just a short 5 minute stroll away, and the Cathedral could have been reached within 2 minutes walk.
Another highlight was the buffet breakfast – which is offered to guests right through until 11:00am! There are fresh juices, yoghurts, hot dishes, cakes, and even churros for breakfast!
While quite basic and minimalist, the rooms at the Grand Hotel Central Barcelona have everything you need to ensure a comfortable stay. Anything else, just ask.
My room was located on the 5th floor overlooking the main street. Surprisingly it wasn’t too noisy in the evenings as should have been expected, so it was great to feel so central and part of the city during my stay.
The hotel offers free wi-fi throughout which is fairly common in Barcelona. After having a few difficulties with connection, concierge promptly brought a wireless router to my room to ensure I was completely connected during my stay. They were also happy to provide an iron and ironing board, with nothing being too much of a hassle for the team.
Hot tip: Turn down service will bring you two delicious chocolate truffles – they are to die for!!
World of Wanderlust visited the property as a guest of the hotel, however my opinion is as always, my own.
