As much as we’d all like to roll over and fall out of bed looking smokin’ hot the day we fly out for a holiday, for many of us (myself included) it just doesn’t happen that way. Instead of being envious of the VS models of the world, there’s a few ways we can help ourselves to look our best for a holiday – in the departments of being bikini body ready, rocking a killer tan, and having ourselves primped and pampered and ready to go. So here it is! The very girly guide to getting ready for a holiday!

Holiday ready on my recent Hawaii trip!

Holiday ready on my recent Hawaii trip!

2 months before you go

After you’ve made your travel plans – booked the flights, booked the hotel, booked the tours, and planned your rough itinerary well in advance, it’s time to crack down on that pre-holiday diet. It’s never a good idea to jump onboard a fad diet to ‘get slim’ in 2 weeks or 2 days… so don’t even go there. 8 weeks before you’re jetsetting off on your adventure, think ahead to how you’d like to look in your bikini and start to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Never aim to lose kilos and see a certain number on the scales, just aim to tone and feel good about yourself FROM WITHIN.

1 month before you go

A month out you should start to feel the progress of living a healthier lifestyle, aiming to maintain all the hard work you’ve achieved. It’s also time to start checking and re-checking travel plans to make sure you have everything sorted from visas to hotel accommodations, arrival transfers and activities to make your trip extra special.

2 weeks before you go

The countdown is on! This week you should book all your necessary appointments – hairdressers, waxing, tanning, nails… however much or little you desire. Be sure to time it all as best as possible – i.e. hairdressers a few days before, tan the day before, waxing 24 hours before you tan…. and so on and so forth.

7 days before you go

If you’re aiming to look your best in a bikini, be sure to cut out carbs this week and eat plenty of proteins. Keep drinking plenty of water to maintain your fluids and up-the-anti on your cardio regime (preferably in the early mornings). Don’t forget it’s just as much about feeling good as it is looking good, so try and sneak in a peaceful afternoon walk or jog to clear your mind – the holiday is almost here!

Don’t forget all your appointments this week – be sure to spoil yourself! Just as you’ve earned your holiday, you’ve earned these little indulgences to feel your very best!

The day before…

Triple check you’ve packed everything and don’t forget to put those liquids in your checked baggage. Be sure to get a good night’s rest before you fly out and spoil yourself by downloading a new album from itunes to listen to on the plane. I’m currently loving Beyonce!

Over to you – what are your beauty regime tips and tricks for getting ready to head overseas? Leave a comment, I’d love to hear from you!

I am a firm believer in eyelash tinting. It lasts about a month. And it is great to not have to worry about racoon eyes in a humid climate or in the ocean. I also rely on eyebrow tinting because my eyebrows are too fair for my hair.

Eyebrow and eyelash tinting for sure! Saves time on the holiday and means you’re still ready for those early morning photos pre-makeup. And make sure your skin is in the best condition you can get it and look after it – again, saves the need for a full face of makeup
