Frequently asked questions

Who is ‘World of Wanderlust’?

Hello! My name is Brooke. I’m originally from Australia but have long had an ongoing desire to travel the world and share my stories with others. World of Wanderlust is home to my travel tales, knowledge, and reviews so that you can follow my adventures and gain insight into places you might not have normally thought to visit or experiences you would not have otherwise known existed. I want to inspire others to travel more often and to more places, which is why I began blogging about my adventures here on worldofwanderlust.com.

How old are you?

I was born on September 3, 1991. At the time of writing, I’m 28.

How can you afford to travel so much?

Blogging is my full-time job. I work with travel companies to promote destinations, hotels, resorts, and everything you need to pack for an adventure! I am sometimes in front of the camera, sometimes behind the camera, always on my laptop, and always having the time of my life doing what I love.

Where is your favourite destination?

It’s always changing! I think my heart is in Europe, though. I love the French countryside, Swiss Alps, Russia… the list is endless. Then again I also love NYC and could never tire of the city. My home country, Australia, cannot be forgotten of course! My little home state Tasmania is home to some of the most underrated scenery I think you can find in the world.

Who do you travel with?

I travel by myself 90% of the time, yet am sometimes joined by family, friends, and even readers. The next question is more often than not “don’t you get scared of travelling alone!?” and the answer is an overwhelming no! I often write about how hard it can be at times, but I really do love travelling solo as an experience and think it is something we should all experience at some stage in our lives.

Who takes your photos?

When I travel by myself, I usually use a tripod to take photos of the places I stay, and ask people to take a photo for me if I am out and about on the streets without a tripod. I have never been a shy person so asking people to lend a hand has never phased me! Plus it’s a nice way to meet people.

How can I become a travel blogger?

Start a blog – It’s really that simple! For so long before my blog became ‘known’ to people around the world I was writing about my travels and escapades. I once read (by someone in the travel industry) that you should write for free for as long as it takes until people are willing to pay a price for you to do it. One very happy day that time came and since then I have been fortunate enough to call this my career. While it may not seem possible looking from the outside in, I can certainly say that anything seems impossible until it is done. Anyone can be a travel blogger – it just takes time, perseverance and perfecting your craft, to make it your career.

Do you hold meetups?

Yes! I love nothing more than meeting readers around the world. I’ve met readers in New York, London, Spain, Ireland, Switzerland, Denmark, England, Singapore… to name a few.

Where have you travelled?

Currently, I have visited 74 countries and live in Cape Town, South Africa. I’ll do my best to update this list as frequently as possible!
