Europe has some stunning castles to match its’ stunning scenery, history, and endless culture. But where will one find Europe’s most beautiful castle…? This is argued to be Peles Castle, lying in central Romania just a short drive from Sinaia.

Peles Castle was created in the late 19th Century and was home to King Carol during his reign. The castle linked Transylvania and Wallachia and is argued to have cost today’s equivalent of US $120 million.

Today, the castle remains to be one of the most visually stunning castles in all of Europe, and it is not difficult to see why travellers have proclaimed this to be the most beautiful castle in Europe.

Tips for Visiting Peles Castle

Be sure to arrive early to avoid crowds, with weekdays being a preferred day to visit over busy weekends.

Our driver Claudiu made travelling from Brasov to the nearby Peles castle a breeze, and I would certainly recommend booking with him for a safe, reliable, and authentic day outing.

You can find a reliable driver in Brasov on arrival – I would recommend visiting the Info Centre upon arriving at the train station.

Romania is a fairly safe country. you just need to follow the rules for any destination: don’t roam the streets at night alone, avoid outer neighborhoods, be careful in what taxis you jump in, keep your belongings close to you and be aware of your whereabouts. Cluj Napoca is a safe town since is mostly a student town. Enjoy your trip!

    Hello Lovely,

We are thinking of going to Romania on our up coming trip in Oct/Nov. Even though it feels like everyone is telling us not to because it is not safe. How did you feel being there? Have you travelled to Cluj Napoca at all? Such a fan of your words and photography by the way…. You’re like my never ending book. Every night I must read something of yours for inspiration. Hope your well and truly hope I get to meet you one day.

Peles Castle was built at the end of the 19th century-beginning of the 20th not in the 14th century 🙂
