You may have noticed I’ve been a little quietly lately on the life updating front, but that comes with good reason in the form of an ongoing house renovation, new business venture, and keeping up with my bakery business all the while adventuring around the world at a current rate of one trip every month!

Last month my partner and I finally made our kitchen renovation a reality, after talking about it and planning for nearly 12 months. Before I go any further, let me tell you now, you MUST SCROLL DOWN TO SEE THE BEFORE PHOTOS because boy did we come a long way in just a few weeks!!!

To make our renovation worth while, we knocked out a wall in the kitchen to open up the room and create an open living space. The end goal was to create a more welcoming entertaining space so that we could enjoy the kitchen/living area when entertaining our friends and family.

For the colour scheme we wanted to keep our kitchen light, bright, simple and neutral. I’m not one for colours at the best of times, so we stuck to whites, creams, black hardware and created a bit of warmth with oak floorboards and countertop.

To appreciate the makeover I think it is entirely necessary to see where we came from!

I’m hoping this is just the beginning for our country house makeover – but definitely plan to enjoy the house being back to a clean, liveable space for a little while!

Wow! It’s an amazing transformation. I love how it looks bright right now. It doesn’t look too crowded as well. Good choice on making an open space. You did a great job in your kitchen renovation.

We have just redone our kitchen as well and I have to say I think yours (before) was definitely more dated than ours, we had retro green benchtops and wild 80’s vinyl. We have ended up with a very similar kitchen. beautiful light timber benchtops. Just stunning.

This is such a lovely kitchen and congrats for the great job!! I love the table and chairs! We did a complete renovation last year – also going white (although not that perfect as yours) and I see that somehow it allows much more light inside.

It looks much brighter and even larger without all the dark cabinets. It’s good to have an open-space kitchen, especially if there isn’t much space available to begin with.

We are planning on redoing our foyer and redoing our kitchen floors (which will hopefully jump start the redo of the whole kitchen)!
