So you’re off to New York in the winter? You’ve already committed a brave and bold move without even stepping foot on the city that is described to be a world in itself. Expect cold, extremely cold climates, and prepare yourself accordingly. But New York is not a place to “blend”, nor a place to try and “stand out”, but a place to be yourself, albeit the most stylish version of yourself. So here’s what to pack for New York in the winter to get you feeling like a New Yorker in no time…

What to Pack for New York (Winter Edition)

To keep warm in New York during the winter you’re going to need layers… and lots of them. But perhaps the most important garment in your suitcase will be the final one: the coat or trench, known also as the outerwear.

Head Gear

Being that it is so utterly cold in the city during winter, it can be hard to really show your style as much of your outfit is set to be practical. So my answer? head gear. Rag & Bone hats are a personal longstanding favourite and hail from right here in the city.

All the Extras

Because it is so cold outside, you’re bound to spend most of your time indoors, unless commuting from one indoor heating system to the next. So here’s a few extras you may need…

And finally, the finishing touches! While it might not be sunshine and rainbows outside, that provides no reason not to wear a stylish pair of shades. My choice of the season: these chic round ray-bans.

Are you off to New York this winter!? What are you most excited about?

I’m always excited to visit New York’s neighbourhoods and sample the food.
I also love discovering New York’s hidden gems like the Morgan Library, which is displaying the original manuscript of “A Christmas Carol”, by Charles Dickens.

As a New Yorker, I can say, Sorels. They have the best, trendiest winter boots. Waterproof wedges and all.
