Its no secret that bloggers have a way of making travel look effortlessly glamorous, despite spending so much time in airports and on planes! This is a question I am often faced with, so I thought there’s no time like the present to reveal a few of my style secrets when it comes to plane travel!

Airport Style

When it comes to airport style, there are a few tricks of the trade I stick to.

First of all, black is always best – especially for your outler layers! When travelling for a long period of time it os often the case that somewhere in transit you are just destined for spillage of some kind. Either that or the cleanliness (or lack of cleanliness) of air travel will leave you feeling a little gritty. Stick to dark colours and you’ll be safe.

.

I also never fly anywhere without coming prepared. That usually means an eye-mask, face wipes, a spritz of perfume and always, always, always face mist. I’m obsessed!

As far as make-up goes, you’ll usually catch me wearing make-up when boarding a flight, but I never land without a fresh face as the minute I board I take it off with make-up wipes and refresh my skin with face mist. If travelling on a long haul flight I use Sunday Riley face oil to rehydrate my skin for the duration of the flight.

For accessories when travelling you always want to keep it simple, as the more you wear, the more you will have to take off through each security check-point! I never travel without a scarf as it doubles as a heating mechanism on those cold air-conditioned flights, a pair of sunglasses to hide my jet-lagged eyes when I land, and often I take a hat if it has a tendency to lose shape in my suitcase (though you can learn my hat packing trick here!)

Lastly, remember to keep it simple. A comfy pair of jeans or slacks, a loose fitting t-shirt, a pair of comfy sneakers and a bag that can carry everything for you on-board with ease and you’re set!

I usually prefer getting away with some comfy boyfriend tee, a pair of boyfriend jeans and converse shoes..
When I intend to overwear – I always throw up a cardigan, some beanies and scarf to compliment to my look.
As for the bags are concerned, I prefer Skybags for the luggage and a tote bag handy so that I can get my necessities intact in them…
I recently bought one from Forzeiri and let me say they are lovely, top notch and worth the money.

The difficult part is deciding if you want to look really good, and sleep in those clothes. I don’t like to sleep in Jeans on a really long flight. Also, the weather when we board is usually completely different when we land. I have been using a Stella & Dot leather tote for almost three years. It is plasticized leather, so you can kick it under the seat in front of you. It has been halfway around the world and back, several times. I have worn it out. I bought a Panamanian string bag two years ago. I put my cards and money in that and everything else in the tote. The string bag fits in the tote because they are crazy about enforcing the two carryon items rule these days. I usually wear a cashmere or merino sweater with a silk scarf, then I look dressed up a little. It’s true that you get better service if you are dressed better.

I fly so often and still cannot manage the art of packing. It’s good to have a cheat-sheet from others 😉

I am always such a mess when leaving the airport. I definitely show up more fresh faced than coming out. I like the face mist idea. My face feels like newspaper when I’m on the plane.

I love face mist for traveling too! I never leave without it haha. I usually end up wearing a lot of black too, like black tights and a leather jacket. And I love using some sort of oil face pad to remove all my facial oil after a long flight.
