Lucky for you, there’s something new around every corner. New York can change in a minute, much less a day, a month, or a year. But what makes New York the must visit destination of a lifetime? You have to try cronuts from Dominique Ansel Bakery. It always has these long lines early in the morning. They finish within 1 hour after opening

You’ve missed one of the most important reason: SEX & THE CITY!!!! 😀

    May 10, 2015 at 1:00 pm

After living in New York for 4 years, I can say that it while it has everything a city could have, it also has many negative quirks. It’s easy to feel extremely isolated (ironically); the lifestyle is so fast and busy that it’s almost impossible to see friends regularly; it promotes a generally vain and shallow and/or rat race lifestyle; a feeling of always wanting to escape (people love leaving the city on the weekends!); minimal access to nature (Central, Prospect, and Riverside Parks are nice, but it’s still difficult to feel like you’re really connected to nature there); lest I mention the ever increasing rent prices…

New York has long been on my list of places to visit! I’ve mostly wanted to see the 9/11 Memorial, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the sunrise over the Hudson. And of course the Statue of Liberty. I’ve always wondered what it must have been/be over the course of time and even nowadays to be an immigrant and arrive in New York–must be unforgettable. I can’t wait to get there.

    December 10, 2014 at 3:52 pm

totally agree with the reasons. I love New York to visit dont think I want to deal with the weather however, love your blog you inspire me to travel the world by myself

I had a love hate relationship with NYC while I was living there, leaning more towards love. Now that I’m gone I’m finding more little things I miss about it. I can’t wait to go visit again!

    December 10, 2014 at 4:53 am

I went to New York City in February and it was by far the best place I’ve ever visited. I miss it so much, and even though I was only there for a week it felt like home. Such a wonderful, absurd and scenic place!

    Lots of love,

Cool list! New York is my dream for Christmas-time (as are many other cities I admit, though mostly European). I’ll keep these things in mind for when I go there! I’m very excited to try eating far too much food.

    December 10, 2014 at 2:28 am

The list could go on and on! There’s something about the energy of the city that completely captures your heart. Can we add shopping to the list? 🙂

I absolutely love New York! Unfortunately the last and only time I got to visit so far was just three days. So I haven’t even come close to seeing everything I wish I could. I’m definitely planning on coming back soon and exploring a lot more!

    December 9, 2014 at 11:36 pm

Can’t wait to go back to New York! Thanks for reminding me of all the reasons I love it!

Fun list! I’ll be back in New York in January (I try to make it there once a year, whenever I’m back in the States for a visit). Looking forward to the city’s energy (which I feel the second I step off the train at Penn Station) and the amazing food.

Oh how I cannot wait to finally set off in this city. I’d love to one day be an expat in New York for a year, I have already got plenty of friends that live there that I’ve made through travels. And in a city like that, I’m sure making friends must be so easy!

What’s not to love?! I’ve been twice in the past couple of years and absolutely loved it both times. I hope I get to go back again soon. For me it’s really about the energy. The city is packed with inspirational people. It makes me you want to dream big and take on the world!

I agree New York is the most exciting city in the world and once you lived there for a while, nothing else compares. But it also is a complete ruthless jungle 🙂
Oh, and Times Square might be magical for the first time you step in there, but that’s it. It is living hell, full of tourists for no particular reason. No New Yorkers ever go there unless they REALLY have to.
In my opinion, visitors would fall in love with New York even more, if they dropped the “famous” attractions like Statue of liberty, Times Square, Charging bull, red tour buses, and instead just get lost in West Village, watch weirdos on Union Square, discover dirty streets of Chinatown, sunbathe on the bank of Hudson River, watch the sunset over Manhattan from Long Island City…

I agree – NYC is insane. My favourite city on earth for sure! There’s so much to do there that you’ll never get bored, and you feel like you’re at the centre of the world! I recently posted an article on what to do for a weekend in New York City on a budget – check it out!
