I don’t know about you but I personally love a good smoothie. There’s nothing more satisfying than sipping away on a delicious concoction and knowing that everything that went into it is good for you. New York is without a doubt the top city in the world for smoothie and juice bars so I made it my mission to try and test as many as possible on a recent trip to the Big Apple and here you have it, WOW’s guide to 10 of the best smoothie bars in New York. Enjoy!

1. Fresh and Co

Fresh and Co has a number of locations around the city and on a trip uptown to the Guggenheim Museum I happened to stumble upon their Upper East Side location, they sell lots of healthy sandwiches and food as well as having a pretty delicious smoothie and fresh juice list. If you end up paying them a visit you must order the PB & Protein smoothie, it’s out-of-this-world delicious.

2. Juice Press

Juice Press is another juice and smoothie bar which has now spread across the city and you can see why! Not only do they have a delicious selection of pre-bottled raw juices and milks they also have a great selection of fresh smoothies to choose from. My personal favourite is their Chocolate Raspberry Kiss which tastes like it shouldn’t be healthy but every ingredient is!

3. Liquiteria

Liquiteria are dotted all over Lower Manhattan so you’re never too far away from your smoothie fix! They were New York’s original cold pressed juice bar founded in 1996 so they definitely know what they’re doing. The best smoothie on their menu in my opinion is Bulldozer for if you’re feeling you need something chocolate-y or the Deep Blue Acai if you’re seeking a fruitier option. The Bulldozer is packed full of protein so makes a delicious post work out refuel if you’ve just walked out of the gym!

4. Juice Generation

Juice Genreation are another veteran of the New York juicing scene and they’re still delivering up delicious concoctions all these years later. You’re never too far from one wherever you are in the city my favourite store is the one on Prince St in Nolita and a personal favourite on the smoothie menu is the Energy Kick filled with a combination of ingredients that all work to get your day started the right way including Acai and matcha powder for that little much needed morning kick!

5. Dig Inn

Dig Inn Seasonal Market not only have a delicious selection of food to fill any lunch break but they also blend up a great selections of smoothies. You’ll find them dotted around the city and my favourite smoothie on the menu is Chocolate Shake which is so yummy you’ll be questioning whether it’s actually good for you whilst you’re sipping away. All their shakes are also under $5 making them an affordable option too!

6. The Butchers Daughter

The Butchers Daughter has both a sit down cafe and a take out bar to choose from. There’s also a queue that’s worth waiting in at the weekends, alternatively you can pop next door to get your order to go, everything on the menu is delicious and vegan or vegetarian. They have one of the most original smoothie menus in the city and the most incredible one in my opinion is called Divine Intervention which is a healthy take on a milkshake with chocolate vegan ice cream, a double espresso and sweet almond milk! Heavenly.

7. Grass Roots Juicery

Grass Roots Juicery is over the East River from Manhattan in Williamsburg. They serve up 100% organic cold-pressed juice, freshly squeezed juices and smoothies. They’re a sure bet if you’re searching for a refreshing smoothie to kick off your day. The Berry Bomb both looks and tastes amazing and is filled with blueberries, almond milk, banana, strawberries and the capper – peanut butter! Definitely seek them out if you’re over there.

8. Whole Green

You’ll find Whole Green in West Village (my favourite area in the city). They stock food as well as loads of healthy juices and smoothies, you won’t be disappointed with the choice! They’re a small little shop in the village making up very good value smoothies with $7 being the price of a large – cheaper than some stores small size! I would recommend the Strawberry, Banana and Peanut Butter smoothie for when you visit.

9. Organic Avenue

Organic Avenue can be found all over the city and you know you’re not far from one when you see New Yorker’s wandering past you with the distinctive orange logo on their cups! They stock everything from food to juice cleanses to smoothies and they have a delicious choice to choose from. If you’re heading out from a class or the gym then definitely try out the Powerhouse Smoothie, it will be just what you need!

10. Juicy Lucy

Last but most definitely not least, Juicy Lucy has two locations in the city both in East Village. As well as stocking bottled fresh juices they also blend up a delicious array of smoothies for you to choose from. I can highly recommend the Peanut Butter, Banana, Soy Milk and Honey smoothie if you pay them a visit and are spoilt for choice!

How lovely! It’s great to have healthy restaurant destinations to seek out, especially in a place like NYC where there’s so many unhealthy temptations surrounding you. I will bring this list with me when I’m in the city next month…thanks!

Emma, I love your articles but I can’t be the only one constantly bothered by all the run-on sentences. Seriously, it’s such an easy fix! Just add a comma! It’s getting to the point where I can always identify if an article is yours just by the run-on sentences.
